Eagles’ Jalen Carter gets record-breaking contract update

The Philadelphia Eagles have been as good as they’ve been over the past few years because of how well they’ve drafted.

The front office knows how to evaluate talent, and the Eagles have been rewarded because of that.

It’s been impressive to watch, especially with somebody like Jalen Carter, who fell to the Eagles at the ninth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Carter had his fifth-year option picked up by the Eagles, but according to Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports, there might be a chance that they could look to extend him next year.

He added that when the time comes, Carter could be the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL.

“Carter already had his fifth-year option picked up by Philadelphia, so he is tied to the organization through the 2027 season. However, he is extension-eligible after the 2025 season. Through two seasons, the Eagles defensive tackle has established himself as a menace along the defensive line. While helping Philly win Super Bowl LIX, Carter was a second-team All-Pro and a Pro Bowler in 2024. Next offseason, Cater will turn just 25 years old, setting him up to land a contract extension that could very well make him the highest-paid defensive player in the league,” he wrote.

To suggest that Carter could be the highest-paid player in the NFL isn’t out of the question.

He’s as good as it gets defensively, and that’s been evident throughout the first two years of his career.

Carter earned a second-place finish in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting in 2023, was named a Pro Bowl selection, an All-Pro second team selection, and a top 12 finish in the Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2024.

That often gets rewarded with huge contracts.
