It’s well-known by now that Draymond Green and Dillon Brooks aren’t friends.
The Warriors’ veteran star, a Defensive Player of the Year finalist this season, and the Rockets wing have had their share of issues in the past. So when Golden State matched up against Houston in the first round of the playoffs, there were some expected fireworks between Green and Brooks.
Most of those fireworks are coming after the series, however. On Tuesday, Green called out Brooks for how he handled the Rockets’ Game 7 loss, with the Warriors now focused on a second-round matchup against the Timberwolves.

Draymond Green calls out Dillon Brooks for not shaking hands
On Sunday, the Warriors avoided blowing a 3-1 series lead to the Rockets by winning Game 7 on the road 103-89.
On his podcast, “The Draymond Green Show,” Green spoke about the moments after the game, saying that Brooks didn’t stay out on the court to shake hands and show respect.
“Dillon Brooks ran off the court. So when I say, ‘You see what guys is made of,’ he ran off the court, ain’t shake nobody up,” Green said. “[Brooks] admitted that [he was] trying to hurt Steph’s hand, which again, fine by me, bro … [but] if you gonna be on that type of time, wear shades in the press conference, you gonna be talking, you gonna be ‘Mr. Big Bad Wolf’, don’t lose and then not face the music.”

Brooks, who had eight points on 3-of-9 shooting in Game 7 vs. Golden State, was asked earlier in the series whether or not he was trying to target Stephen Curry’s hurt thumb. Wearing shades in his postgame press conference, Brooks answered by saying, “If I had an injured ankle, I would attack that ankle every single time.”

With Brooks then retreating to the locker room before showing respect after Game 7, Green didn’t take it kindly.Â
“You lose a lot of respect for guys, in that moment. But that’s who Dillon Brooks is,” Green said on his podcast. “And we understand, you a sucka, man. … Dillon Brooks couldn’t come through in this series, in large part because nobody on the court respects [him.]”

This certainly isn’t the first time Green and Brooks have exchanged words.Â
Brooks has put it bluntly before, telling ESPN in 2023: “I don’t like Draymond at all.” He also noted his dislike for the Warriors in general.
Green responded to that at the time, saying he “wouldn’t like a team that beats me all the time either” and that he “isn’t sure” that Brooks’ teammates even like him, going on a rant on his podcast about why Brooks isn’t a championship player and why the Grizzlies, Brooks’ team at the time, would be better off without him,

More recently, toward the end of the 2024-25 regular season, the two strong defenders exchanged some words after a hard foul by Green.
