Donna Kelce gets real about Mother’s Day, childhood chaos and chip clip injuries

On a special Mother’s Day edition of their “New Heights” podcast, Travis and Jason Kelce invited the most important woman in their lives — their mom, Donna Kelce — to share what moms actually want for Mother’s Day.

Spoiler alert: It’s not expensive gifts.

“They want to spend time with their children, which doesn’t happen often… but when they’re older, yeah, that’s basically it. It’s time. That’s it,” said Donna, now 72.

While she admitted she enjoys flowers, pistachios, macarons, caramel and chocolate, the true gift is simply togetherness. “I love caramel and chocolate too, and it’s always good. But basically, I think moms just want to be around their families,” she added.

During the episode, Travis, who affectionately calls Donna, “Mommy,” and Jason, gave fans a sweet glimpse into the Kelce family dynamic.

When Travis jokingly questioned whether Mother’s Day is a “real” holiday, Jason quickly responded, “It’s a recognized national holiday … pretty much every country in the world has their own version of Mother’s Day, because there’s nobody more important in this world than mothers. Nobody would be here without one.”

Donna also looked back on raising two energetic boys.

“Travis got lost all the time on purpose,” she said, describing him as “always escaping” like a “Lost Boy from Peter Pan.” And she reminisced about the brothers pretending to be superheroes by tying towels around their necks and securing them with chip clips.

On one occasion the chip clip left a cut on Travis’s neck, and according to Donna, he told the daycare workers that his dad (who was in Mexico at the time) cut him with knife, which of course wasn’t true, but “It left me with a lot of explaining to do,” Donna laughed.
