The Miami Dolphins are heading into the season with more uncertainty than expected—especially when it comes to veteran cornerback Jalen Ramsey and the growing concerns surrounding quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Meanwhile, trade rumors continue to circulate around several Dolphins players carrying hefty contracts. One of those is star wide receiver Tyreek Hill. After an offseason focused on personal growth, Hill could be poised for a strong season—particularly in terms of speed.
“Hill is down 14 pounds (from 197 to 183) to a more comfortable weight as he once again sets his eyes on 2,000 yards receiving for the season,” CBS Sports’ Jordan Dajani wrote.
Hill’s offseason wasn’t without controversy. Comments he made about the team earlier in the year put him on the hot seat—remarks he can’t take back. Now, with his focus back on the field, Hill says he’s determined to prove his value.
“Every day I’m trying to prove myself as one of those guys this team can depend on in crucial moments. . . . It was tough. Emotions were high then. At the end of the day, I’m just looking to move forward from that. Hoping that I can prove myself and prove to my teammates that I’m still one of those ones,” Hill said.
Despite his intent to stay in Miami, NFL.com’s David Carr believes a trade is still on the table—and suggests a surprising potential destination.

“The Dolphins might be wary of trading within the division, but if not, the Patriots and Drake Maye certainly could use Hill’s services in the passing attack. New England has admirably overhauled the offense this offseason, and Hill would continue that trend by giving Josh McDaniels a guy who can elevate his attack to the next level due to his speed and field-stretching ability,” Carr wrote.
While Miami and New England are division rivals, such a deal would be nothing short of shocking—but also potentially transformative for the Patriots. If the Dolphins decide to move Hill, New England could be in a position to capitalize on a rare opportunity.
