The Miami Dolphins are still waiting to see which team is willing to make the best offer for veteran cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who has been seeking a trade since the offseason began. With the regular season approaching, Miami is likely to move on from several key pieces—and Ramsey appears to be one of them.
The Dolphins likely would have already traded Ramsey, but they’ve been reluctant to take on any of his guaranteed money.
“The Dolphins appear unwilling to take on any of Jalen Ramsey’s guaranteed money to facilitate a trade. Teams are very interested in trading for Ramsey, but don’t want to take on his full contract. This is the current hold up,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported.
Now that June 1 has passed, however, trading Ramsey becomes more financially viable. A deal would be easier to structure for both sides.
“ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports ‘there’s more interest in Jalen Ramsey than people realize.’ Trade could be announced in June, potentially. Schefter notes if trade happens before, it wouldn’t be processed until after June 1 for cap reasons,” the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson posted.
One potential landing spot is Atlanta, which would reunite Ramsey with a former defensive coordinator. According to CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin, a deal with the Falcons is a realistic scenario.

“Another high-profile Dolphins veteran whose age and salary could result in a summer split, Ramsey has reportedly been anticipating an exit for a while, despite just signing a $72 million extension last September. He might soon get his wish of a clean slate, as Miami can save close to $10 million by trading the cornerback after June 1 as opposed to losing $8.5 million by dealing the former Los Angeles Rams star prior to June 1. All signs point to Ramsey playing elsewhere in 2025. Potential landing spot: Falcons,” Benjamin wrote.
A trade to Atlanta wouldn’t just reunite Ramsey with a familiar face—it would also give the Falcons a formidable cornerback duo alongside A.J. Terrell. Ramsey would bring added experience and leadership to an already improving Atlanta defense.
