The Atlanta Falcons have been involved in trade talks all offseason, especially regarding Kirk Cousins and even Kyle Pitts. However, that doesn’t mean they aren’t looking to add to their roster—particularly on the defensive side of the ball. It all started during the draft when they went all out for Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr. in the first round.
“Raheem Morris says he was tired of getting grilled for the lack of a pass rush for the Falcons, and they were intentional about fixing that this offseason,” Will McFadden wrote. “That’s got to change, and the only way to change that is to change that.”
The defense is young, but Jessie Bates is a great mentor and will have a huge influence on the unit.
“Bates’ mentorship is crucial for the Falcons, who will likely field a very young defense in 2025. Walker and fellow pass rusher James Pearce Jr. were both first-round picks in April and will likely see a lot of playing time as rookies. The Falcons also drafted Watts and Billy Bowman Jr., a fourth-round pick who played safety in college and will play nickel corner in Atlanta,” ESPN’s Marc Raimondi wrote.
The Falcons were close to landing veteran Jaire Alexander after he was cut by the Packers; however, he ultimately signed with the Ravens in Baltimore. This hinted that the Falcons were not content with their cornerback room.
On Monday, the Falcons missed out on Jalen Ramsey when he was traded to the Steelers. Sports Illustrated’s Daniel Flick believes Atlanta is now content with their cornerback room after failing to strike a deal.

“Ramsey and Jaire Alexander both off the market certainly leads one to believe the Falcons’ cornerback room is mostly set for 2025,” Flick wrote.
The Falcons were unable to get AJ Terrell any veteran help, but Cobee Bryant does bring a lot of potential. For now, the Falcons are going to stay put.
