Dolphins’ $12M bulldozer gets ‘best case scenario’ injury update after scary collapse

The Miami Dolphins have been quite the story to follow since last season, when discipline seemed to be lacking. Too many tempers were flaring, and players appeared unhappy with the team. Those issues, along with several other factors, are why it seems Mike McDaniel won’t be the head coach beyond this season.

“All of those now put a tremendous amount of pressure on McDaniel, who is coming off his first under .500 season with the Dolphins, who were also on the outside looking in on the playoffs. We already listed McDaniel as a head coach with one of the hottest seats in the NFL entering 2025, and the road to save his job just got even more difficult,” CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan wrote.

The Dolphins have already been hit with the injury bug and have had to add two veterans to help the secondary.

“Miami signed veteran cornerback Mike Hilton to help bolster the unit, NFL Network’s Cam Wolfe reported on Saturday. The Dolphins announced earlier in the day that they had signed cornerback Jack Jones,” NFL.com’s Eric Edholm wrote.

Another injury occurred on Sunday morning, this time to fullback Alec Ingold. However, this one seemed more serious, as Ingold suddenly collapsed to the ground.

“It’s unclear what happened. The Dolphins were in a situational team drill with their back against their own end zone when suddenly Ingold appeared to collapse as soon as the ball snapped. Trainers rushed to his side as the entire team took a knee and the crowd at the Baptist Health Training Facility fell silent,” The Miami Herald’s Claude Smalls wrote.

Miami Herald’s Omar Kelly offered a rather hopeful update on Ingold after the incident.

“Alec Ingold is in the concussion protocol. Considering how bad it looked this is a best case scenario,” Kelly wrote.

While a concussion is very serious, it is definitely not the worst injury that could have happened. Ingold will likely be out for a couple of weeks, but that is as good an outcome as possible given the seriousness of the situation. However, Ingold’s injury only adds to the growing list of hurt Dolphins.
