Dodgers World Series champion listed as possible trade chip ahead of deadline

The Los Angeles Dodgers had a very busy offseason, spending big money on several high-priced free agents and once again building a World Series championship contender.

At 34-21, they are tied with the Chicago Cubs for the second-best record in the National League and hold a two-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the NL West.

In addition to their spending spree, they also have developed some solid players. However, some players may be on the trading block at the deadline.

FanSided’s Katrina Stebbins proposed the idea of pitcher Landon Knack being on the block.

“Knack seems like the most compelling trade option between the Dodgers’ interim starters (Knack, Justin Wrobleski, and Bobby Miller). He has a 5.22 ERA this year, but has leveled out a bit in May (4.35 ERA), and he’s remained in the majors for longer stretches than either Wrobleski or Miller. His early postseason experience and years of team control could also be enticing to a buying team,” Stebbins writes.

Knack has struggled at the Major League level for the Dodgers, but there could be plenty of selling teams that might find him attractive if they give away big pieces to contenders.

The 27-year-old righty-hander made his Major League debut last season and went 3-5 in 12 starts and three relief appearances with a 3.65. He also averaged nine strikeouts per nine innings.

He was one of the Dodgers’ top prospects last season before making his big-league debut. The Dodgers have plenty of young talent to deal from if they decide to take a few big swings this year at the deadline.

The Dodgers can never be counted out when it comes to making big moves at trade deadlines and in the offseason, so this could mean that Knack could be part of a trade package.

We’ll see where things stand at the deadline.
