For the second straight year, the Dodgers are kicking off the MLB season overseas.
MLB added a South Korea series between the Dodgers and Padres in 2024, and LA is heading to Japan this year. The Cubs are taking the Padres’ spot in 2025, however.
It’s especially notable that Japan is the host for the 2025 series since there are so many notable Japanese players on both teams. The Dodgers feature Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Rōki Sasaki, while the Cubs have Shota Imanaga.
Imanaga and Yamamoto will be the starting pitchers for the first game, while Sasaki will pitch the second game. Because they take place in Japan, the games will start early in the morning in the United States.
