Tommy Edman isn’t a big dude.
The Los Angeles Dodgers super-utility man measures in at 5-foot-9, 193 pounds. He’s not someone expected to lead the major leagues in home runs or even hang out anywhere near the top of that leaderboard.
But after Friday night, Edman is tied for the MLB lead in homers.
He’s up to six after slugging one against the Cubs late Friday.
There are five MLB players who have hit exactly six home runs to this point in the season. The others: Aaron Judge, Mike Trout, Kyle Schwarber and Tyler Soderstrom.
“It’s a lot of guys who kind of look the same –– and then there’s me,” Edman told reporters after Friday’s game.

The first three are household names.
Judge is the 6-foot-7 behemoth with seasons of 62 and 58 home runs to his name for the Yankees.
Trout is an NFL linebacker build, one of the best players ever, on an absurd hot streak for the Angels with all six of his homers in their last eight games.
Schwarber, not as tall, is built like a brick house and is always crushing homers for the Phillies.
Soderstrom is the most unlikely member of this list aside from Edman just based on his nonexistent big league pedigree, but based on his past draft status, the 6-2, 200-pounder certainly is known as a strong hitter.
Then there’s Edman.
His career-high for home runs in a season is 13. Last season, he hit six in an injury-shortened 37 game campaign.
But somehow, Edman is crushing dingers at an incredible rate. It’ll be awesome to see if he can keep it up.
