The Los Angeles Dodgers are getting ready to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in a series finale, where if LA wins, they will clinch the NL West.
In the first two games of the series, Los Angeles saw stellar outings by both Blake Snell and Shohei Ohtani. The Dodgers’ starting pitching has been incredible over the last month and a half, but it’s been the bullpen that has let the team down in big spots.
With some of the names in the Dodgers’ rotation, it’s no surprise that the group was named “the best” entering October.
Is there a starting rotation better than LA’s?
According to Bleacher Report, the Dodgers’ starting rotation ranks first among all MLB contenders heading into the playoffs, and when you take a look at the numbers, it makes sense as to why.
With Shohei Ohtani appearing to be dominant once again on the bump, Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow being healthy, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto having a stellar season, Los Angeles should be fine on that front when they head into its wild-card series against whoever ends up winning the final spot in the NL.
In fact, the Dodgers are so good in the rotation right now that they had to move Clayton Kershaw (10-2, 3.52 ERA) and Emmet Sheehan (2.86 ERA) to the bullpen to anchor that group.
The Dodgers’ rotation has gotten healthy at the right time, as all four top options are looking as dominant as ever; however, the end of games will still be a headache for Dodgers fans to sit through, and the hope is that manager Dave Roberts can pull the right strings at the right time to get through games.
