In case you’d forgotten, there’s no one like Shohei Ohtani.
His latest absurd accomplishment doesn’t even involve the fact that he pitches, but yeah, he does that, too.
This statistical history for the Los Angeles Dodgers’ superstar comes in the runs scored category.
OptaStats brings this to us:
“Shohei Ohtani has scored 110 runs this year. No one else in the NL has more than 80. This is the first time an NL player has had at least 30 more runs than any other player in the Senior Circuit at the end of any given day since 1932, when Chuck Klein led by as many as 37 runs.”

Clearly, it helps that Ohtani hits leadoff for one of the best lineups in baseball.
Ohtani has played in 115 games this season, so he’s scoring almost a run per game.
He leads the NL in plate appearances, which always helps the cause, too.
Ohtani also leads the NL in slugging percentage (.614) and OPS (.999).

He set his career-high in runs scored last season when he crossed the plate an NL-best 134 times while also driving in 130 runs.
Ohtani isn’t on pace for that many RBI this season. He’s at 40 homers and 76 driven in.
He’s still having a historic season, as usual. And he’s coming off a pitching outing with eight strikeouts on the mound, fully hitting his stride there.
Special, as always.
