The Los Angeles Dodgers continued to make moves left and right on Tuesday.
Los Angeles signed veteran hurler José Ureña, optioned right-handed pitcher Will Klein, and designated catcher Chuckie Robinson for assignment, as shared by the team.
“The Dodgers signed RHP José Ureña and optioned RHP Will Klein. The Dodgers designated catcher Chuckie Robinson for assignment,” the team announced.
Robinson has appeared in 51 total games at the big league level across two big league seasons with the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox.
He has appeared in 27 games so far this season with the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees. Over that stretch, he slashed .272/.315/.388 with one homer, 18 RBIs, five doubles, and two triples. Now, that he has been designated for assignment, teams will have a week to claim him. If he goes unclaimed, then the Dodgers will have the option to outright him back to the minors or cut ties with him.

The most likely solution seems to be that a week will pass and he will be outrighted back, but that is just speculation. Designating him for assignment opens up a spot on the 40-man roster, which seems to be the most important part of this transaction.
The Dodgers haven’t been afraid to make any moves this season. The Dodgers have a 37-24 record right now, but the season hasn’t been smooth. Injuries have popped up left and right and the club has had to find a way through. They have done a good job, but this is another example of the roster shuffle in full action.
