Dodgers reportedly on no-trade list for $106 million 2-time All-Star

The Los Angeles Dodgers do not have many holes in their roster, but whatever flaws they do have can be addressed at the upcoming trade deadline.

The Dodgers could be in the market for an outfielder. Michael Conforto has struggled, and with Max Muncy’s injury, Tommy Edman may be needed more in the infield. The Dodgers may have to cross one name off their list of potential targets. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Noah Hiles, Bryan Reynolds will not approve a trade to the Dodgers.

“A few national reports have stated that Bryan Reynolds is also receiving some trade interest,” wrote Hiles. “Moving Reynolds, however, might not be as easy as others. Reynolds, who is under team control through the 2031 season, features a six-team no-trade clause in his contract, meaning he has made it clear he would not approve a deal to certain locations. Those six teams, per sources, are the (New York) Yankees, (New York) Mets, (Toronto) Blue Jays, (Los Angeles) Dodgers, (San Francisco) Giants and (San Diego) Padres.”

According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the Pirates are taking calls on everyone except Paul Skenes and Oneil Cruz. If Reynolds is truly available, he would get plenty of interest, but most of the teams that need him are on his reported list of teams he would not approve a trade to. The Philadelphia Phillies are a team not on his list that could use an outfielder.

Reynolds clearly does not want to play in New York or California. He signed an eight-year, $106 million deal with the Pirates in 2023. He is a two-time All-Star and would be a huge addition for the Dodgers.

This season, he is hitting just .232, but his career numbers tell a different story. He has a .808 career OPS with 132 home runs. His last All-Star selection was last season. He has hit 20-plus home runs in four consecutive seasons coming into this year. He could start hitting better on a team with winning aspirations, and in a lineup where there are other stars around him.
