Dodgers listed as trade fit for Marlins $56 million former Cy Young

The Los Angeles Dodgers essentially won the offseason thanks to their many signings. Roki Sasaki, Blake Snell, Tanner Scott, Hye-Seong Kim, Michael Conforto and Kirby Yates joined the team.

But who’s to say the Dodgers are done adding? One could argue that they didn’t need to make certain moves. Still, they added top talent to the roster to enhance their chances at another World Series title in 2025.

They could always use more pitching, however. Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow are all injury-prone, and their rotation was decimated by injuries last year.

While not listed as a top destination, Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer proposed the idea of Los Angeles trying for former Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara.

“Another ace is the last thing the Dodgers need…for now. When you remember how hard they were hit by injuries last year, their rotation is perhaps vulnerable until proved otherwise,” Rymer wrote.

Alcantara himself is coming off Tommy John surgery. He missed the entire 2024 season as a result.

But if healthy, he can still be one of the top pitchers in Major League Baseball. The Dodgers aren’t desperate and don’t truly need him, but pitching is always in high demand, so they can’t be counted out as a possible suitor.

This would only further cement them as the favorites to win the World Series in 2025. They have proven their desire to win by making so many moves, putting their money where their mouth is and aggressively finding ways to improve their roster.

For this reason, a trade for Alcantara is always possible. The Miami Marlins are not expected to contend, and the Dodgers have the prospect capital to get a deal done.

We’ll see if they try to make a move for the two-time All-Star.
