Dodgers listed as top trade fit for $56 million Marlins’ Cy Young

The Los Angeles Dodgers are off to a red-hot start as they look to defend their 2024 World Series title. They are 7-0 after having made several impactful additions this offseason.

The trade deadline is months away, but it would be easy to see the Dodgers being very active at this year’s deadline. They’ve proven their hunger for another title and will clearly stop at nothing to ensure they capture it.

The Miami Marlins are almost certain to trade Sandy Alcantara this year. SportsGrid listed the Dodgers as the top potential landing spot.

“Despite having a deep rotation, the Dodgers could benefit from Alcantara’s prowess, especially given their injury woes. With seven Top 100 prospects, including three in the Top 10, the Dodgers are well positioned to make a compelling offer.”

Indeed, the Dodgers have the necessary prospects to get a deal done when the deadline comes around.

Alcantara is a particularly attractive target given that he has two years of team control left, plus a club option for 2027. He would be more than just a one-year rental like Corbin Burnes was for the Baltimore Orioles.

He missed all of 2024 recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he is back in full force and off to a strong start in 2025. He won a Cy Young award back in 2022 and is also a two-time All-Star.

Adding him would only further cement the Dodgers as World Series favorites, as with what they already have, they have been listed as such.

The cost will be high for Los Angeles, but they aren’t afraid to make big trades and significantly improve their roster.

It will certainly be interesting to see if they decide to make a play for him before the deadline.
