Dodgers linked to Rangers 2x All-Star to upgrade outfield at deadline

The Los Angeles Dodgers are off to a red-hot start in 2025 on the heels of their eighth World Series title last October. The team is 24-11, which is good for the best record in all of Major League Baseball.

However, that doesn’t mean that this team doesn’t have some areas to address. They signed Michael Conforto to play left field, but he has not performed well, so they might need to add a bat or two at the trade deadline.

Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report lists Adolis Garcia as a surprise trade candidate for the Texas Rangers. Miller also notes that if the Rangers are to trade Garcia, the Dodgers make the most sense.

“As annoying as it may be to MLB fans outside of Los Angeles, the perfect trade partner here is probably the Dodgers. Michael Conforto has been a huge disappointment in left field, and the Dodgers have a half-dozen pitchers with more career saves than any arm currently in Texas—including last year’s Rangers closer, Kirby Yates. The reigning champs also have no shortage of young starting pitchers at their disposal,” Miller notes.

The Dodgers are loaded with young, Major League ready pitchers and have several arms in their minor league system that could help other teams.

The Rangers pitching hasn’t been their problem, but if they are out of the race, Garcia could be of use to the Dodgers.

The two-time All-Star and 2023 World Series champion is off to a slow start, slashing .217/.269/.375 with four home runs, 17 RBI, four stolen bases and a .644 OPS.

But perhaps a change of scenery could benefit him. He has been with the Rangers since 2021, and he even earned ALCS MVP honors in 2023 when the Rangers went on their title run.

Still, Garcia could be a fit with the Dodgers as they try to defend their 2024 World Series title. They need a bat, and his power could play well in Los Angeles with several other sluggers around him.

We’ll see what the Dodgers are thinking at the trade deadline.
