The Los Angeles Dodgers are riding high after winning another World Series title this past October. They had a Major League best 98-64 record and cruised to a championship, defeating the San Diego Padres, New York Mets and New York Yankees along the way.
There are some questions they’ll need to answer. They’ve already addressed their starting rotation by signing Blake Snell, but outfielder Teoscar Hernandez is a free agent after a resurgent 2024 season.
Fortunately, Will Leitch of MLB.com believes the Dodgers will retain the veteran slugger this winter.
“Toronto, another place Teoscar knows well, is also a possibility. But while we’re talking about teams in their luxury item era, the Dodgers had a blast with Teoscar in their lineup in 2024. He in fact steadied the lineup during some injury-riddled stretches; he was the other free agent last offseason that few noticed but ended up being key to the Dodgers’ title run,” Leitch wrote.
“They will almost certainly have to go multiple years rather than one on his contract this time, but it’s doubtful, if they brought him back, that they would regret it.”
The two-time All-Star slashed .272/.339/.501 with 33 home runs, 99 RBI, 12 stolen bases and an .840 OPS. He also had a 137 OPS+ and 4.3 Wins Above Replacement.
He won’t come cheap, but the Dodgers have the resources to be able to sign him to a multi-year deal after he helped carry them to the World Series this year.
He brings power from the right side and is a trusted middle-of-the-order bat. His defense is also quite good, so having him back in Los Angeles would be ideal.
