The Los Angeles Dodgers have arguably the best offense in Major League Baseball, but with the trade deadline quickly approaching, they can still find ways to improve.
The Dodgers have used the most pitchers of any team in the league this season due to the absurd number of injuries to pitchers that the team has dealt with, as well as the occasional Enrique Hernández appearance on the bump.
Though the Dodgers have had struggles with pitching this season, The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya predicts that the team will add an impact bat before the trade deadline, likely to replace the struggling Michael Conforto.
“Yes, they’re tied for second in the majors in runs scored,” Ardaya wrote. “They have three former MVPs and the current leader in the NL batting race. They have a bigger priority in the bullpen that they’ll need to address. But one way to mitigate all the questions about the Dodgers’ pitching staff is to create a lineup with no holes.”
“The Dodgers clearly saw that in adding Michael Conforto this winter, but that hasn’t worked out – he has a .620 OPS. If they can find a way to add an impact bat, they can move around the pieces to make everything else work.”

Conforto is arguably in the worst season of his ten-year career. The 32-year-old outfielder is slashing .183/.296/.616 this season with only eight home runs and 23 RBIs.
In a lineup filled with the likes of Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman, there aren’t many holes. Adding a potential replacement for Conforto may be what the Dodgers’ lineup needs as they eye a deep playoff run.
