Eric Karros spent a dozen seasons playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers and now spends time as a color commentator on their broadcasts.
His son is about to make his MLB debut in the NL West Division, but for a different club.
Kyle Karros is expected to play his first big league game on Friday, according to MLB.com’s Thomas Harding.
Kyle is a 6-foot-5 third baseman who the Rockies took in the fifth round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of UCLA.
He began this season with the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats and has since been playing with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes. At both levels, Karros has raked.

His combined minor league stats for the season are a .301 batting average, 23 doubles, three triples, six homers and 40 walks.
His triple-slash line is .301/.398/.476 to give him an .874 OPS.
He’s also a great defender at third base. He earned a Minor League Gold Glove Award earlier in his career.
“The instincts of someone who grew up around the game stand out, and a little more strength to provide more impact could make him a regular at the hot corner in the future,” writes MLB Pipeline.

As Karros has climbed the minor league ladder, he’s been regarded as more of a pure hitter than a power hitter.
In a big home yard like Coors Field, that could play very nicely.
His father hit 270 home runs for the Dodgers, so Kyle has a long way to go to do anything like that for his own NL West club.
But maybe he can be the start of a much-needed turnaround in Colorado.
