The Los Angeles Dodgers are loaded with superstars, but their outfield could become a problem. The team signed Michael Conforto in the offseason, but early returns have not been great.
Conforto is slashing .141/.286/.242. He is in the middle of a 0-for-29 with 15 strikeouts. The Dodgers have World Series aspirations and will not be able to wait all season for Conforto to find his swing, especially given how the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants are playing in the National League West.
However, the Dodgers could swing a blockbuster trade for Luis Robert Jr., solving their outfield woes. Robert signed a six-year, $50 million deal with the Chicago White Sox in 2020 and is a candidate to be dealt at the trade deadline. Robert has dealt with injuries in his career, but he was an All-Star in his lone healthy season in 2023.
He got off to a slow start this season, but now he is playing like the best version of himself. In his last nine games, he is slashing .333/.450/.636 with three home runs, eight stolen bases and seven walks. During his All-Star season, he hit 38 home runs and stole 20 bases.
Robert’s 15 steals lead all of baseball, and have him on pace to set a new career high. The Dodgers could trade for Robert, play him in center field and slide Andy Pages to left field.

At his best, Robert is a Gold Glover with 40-home run potential. He is looking like an All-Star again and could fill the Dodgers’ biggest hole. The Dodgers just called up Hyeseong Kim, but Dave Roberts views him as a bench player as of right now. Kim has the ability to play in the outfield, but the Dodgers are not an organization that is going to pass up on the opportunity to add another superstar if they have the chance.
