Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw gets important injury update

One of MLB’s legends is almost back.

After months of rehabbing, Clayton Kershaw is officially MLB ready, with the southpaw set to make his 2025 debut in the coming days.

Kershaw struck out two and allowed a pair of runs over four innings in his final tuneup before returning to Dodgers Stadium.

The runs came courtesy of a two-run home run by Isotopes second baseman Aaron Schunk.

“I hope this is the last time I have to rehab. I’m kind of done with that,” Kershaw said during Spring Training. “But at the same time, I don’t want that to be the reason that I stop playing. … Hopefully I can walk out on my own terms, whenever that is, but it just didn’t feel like it was the right time.”

Kershaw is returning just when the Dodgers need him most, with the club dealing with a multitude of injuries that not even their high-priced offseason has been able to fix. The team certainly hopes that Kershaw’s steady presence in the locker room will aid them in their title defense.

Kershaw is eligible to return from the 60-day injured list as early as Saturday, with the Dodgers hosting their inter-state rival Angels. It’s unknown how long Kershaw will be able to go in his first few outings with the team, and given his injury history some patience and caution will be necessary. Still, it will be great to see Kershaw back where he belongs in the big leagues.

The 37-year-old is in the midst of his 18th season in Los Angeles.
