The Los Angeles Dodgers are still playing great and leading the National League West despite some key injuries. However, they could make some moves to ensure another World Series run near the trade deadline.
Coming into the season, visions of the Dodgers’ healthy rotation surely had other teams worrying. Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, Rōki Sasaki, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shohei Ohtani and Clayton Kershaw are a group that can take any team through October. However, injuries have put their rotation in a tough spot.
Additionally, some of their depth options have not lived up to the task. Robbie Hyde suggested the Dodgers swing a blockbuster trade with the Milwaukee Brewers for their ace, Freddy Peralta.
“I think they have to add someone that you know you can count on, and a guy that’s going to improve the ceiling of this rotation to go with Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who’s having a great year,” said Hyde on his YouTube channel. “I think Freddy Peralta would be an amazing addition if the Brewers decide to sell.”
The Brewers will be a team to watch as the trade deadline gets closer. They started the season off slow, but they may have just found their stride. They are winners of seven straight, including a sweep over the Philadelphia Phillies. Their star players are swinging the bat well, and they are getting healthy.

If they do start to slide again, Peralta will be a player they may be able to flip for valuable prospects. He has an $8 million club option for 2026 after signing a five-year, $15 million deal in 2020. His salary is an absolute bargain considering he is a former All-Star and is playing great this year.
Peralta has a 2.77 ERA in 12 starts. He has shown the ability to stay healthy, making 30-plus starts in back-to-back seasons. Even if the Dodgers’ rotation gets healthy, Peralta is good enough to justify a move.
