Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star closer has revealed how his free agency negotiations went with the New York Yankees.
Nothing happened.
According to Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News, Tanner Scott told the publication that the Yankees never met or spoke with the left-hander.
“I heard at the beginning they were interested,” Scott said. “And then after the Devin Williams trade, I figured I probably wasn’t going to hear from them.”
Instead of pursuing Scott in free agency, who signed a four-year, $72 million deal with the Dodgers on Jan. 23, the Yankees traded for right-handed closer Devin Williams from the Milwaukee Brewers a month before Scott signed.
Yankees pitching coach Matt Blake commented on the team’s interest in Scott.

“I don’t know to what extent we were going to go get him,” Blake told the Daily News. “I don’t know where he fit amongst the other collection of guys we were talking about in the budget, but obviously, anyone with that level of talent in the free agent market, you’re going to be interested.”
Scott, 30, was the top free agent reliever available and the Dodgers out-bid several teams including the Chicago Cubs to win his services.
Scott hasn’t gotten off to the start that he and Los Angeles anticipated, already blowing five saves in 15 opportunities.
In 27 appearances, the hard-throwing lefty is 0-1 with a 4.56 ERA. Scott does have a 1.09 WHIP and a 28:3 strikeout to walk ratio, good for a career high 9.3 strikeouts per walk.
