In the first quarter, Mahomes hit his head hard against the turf after scrambling away from the Eagles pass rush. While he never got evaluated for a concussion, many fans wondered whether Mahomes was feeling the impact of that hit for the rest of the game.
On social media, neuroscientist and founder of the Concussion Legacy Foundation Chris Nowinski commented on the hit, saying he didn’t believe that play led to a concussion. According to Nowinski, Mahomes didn’t show signs of a head injury throughout the game.

If Nowinski said Mahomes didn’t show signs of a concussion, then it is unlikely the Chiefs quarterback played through an injury in the game.
Mahomes’ struggles were most likely just due to a bad night vs. a great team, as the Eagles defense made a lot of good quarterbacks look bad this year. However, head injuries can be both tricky and tough to diagnose in some situations.
Perhaps Mahomes or Andy Reid will address these concussion rumors in the coming days, but until then, fans can only speculate as to whether Mahomes was playing hurt in the Super Bowl.
