Did you think Derrick Henry would lose a step in Year 10? Think again.
The 31-year-old Ravens running back officially entered his second season with the team Sunday night, when Baltimore took on Buffalo in a season-opening meeting between two elite AFC squads.
In his two games against the Bills last season, including the Ravens’ divisional playoff loss, Henry totaled 283 total rushing yards. On “Sunday Night Football” against Buffalo, Henry picked up right where he left off, running wild in Orchard Park before the Ravens fell apart in a 41-40 loss.

Between the regular season and playoffs in 2024, Henry faced the Bills twice in his first season as a Raven. In those games, he combined for 283 rushing yards on 40 carries (7.1 YPC), adding in three total touchdowns. So, Buffalo’s defense was no stranger to struggling to tackle Henry.
In Baltimore’s 2025 season-opener against Buffalo, Henry posted 123 rushing yards in the first half alone as the Ravens took a 20-13 lead into halftime. He found the end zone on a 30-yard run, his first of the season but also significant for his placement in NFL history.
With the 107th rushing touchdown of his career, Henry claimed sole place of sixth all-time in the category across league history. He passed Jim Brown at 106, and he now trails Walter Payton’s 110 for fifth place.

Henry’s high school career was fairly famous for how he dominated his way to 12,124 rushing yards. Per Marcus Mosher, by the time halftime arrived in Baltimore on Sunday, Henry was within 601 more NFL rushing yards of matching that mark during his time in the pros.

While Sunday’s Bills vs. Ravens matchup was the penultimate game of a full 2025 Week 1 slate, by the time halftime arrived, Henry already ranked among the leading rushers across the NFL. He trailed only Travis Etienne’s 143 yards at halftime, later making himself the NFL’s top rusher for the time being.

Henry proceeded to add 54 rushing yards in the second half, including a 46-yard dash down the field for another big touchdown. By that point, Henry had his 18th career game with at least 150 rushing yards. He also joined Payton as the only players in NFL history with seven career games of 150-plus rushing yards at 30 or older, including the postseason.
While Henry’s late fumble played a role in a thrilling Bills fourth-quarter comeback, it was a terrific performance for the veteran running back nonetheless.

Henry’s first big play was his second-quarter touchdown run, as he threw a mean stiff arm at Cole Bishop en route to the end zone for 30 yards.

Not long after, Henry broke free for a 49-yard gain that later set up a Lamar Jackson rushing touchdown.

When was the NFL’s last 200-yard rushing game?
Henry didn’t quite reach the elite 200-yards rushing mark on “Sunday Night Football.” He did come close though, and it would have been Henry’s seventh career game of 200-plus rushing yards.
The NFL’s last 200-yard rushing game came from Saquon Barkley in the Eagles’ divisional playoff matchup against the Rams last season. Barkley ran for 205 yards in a snowy Philadelphia game; earlier in the 2024 season, Barkley totaled 255 rushing yards against the Rams, while Jonathon Taylor put up 218 rushing yards against the Titans.
