Denver Broncos named as a potential landing spot for Rams WR Cooper Kupp

The Los Angeles Rams made headlines on Monday night when they announced that they are immediately seeking to trade wide receiver Cooper Kupp.

The news comes as a bit of a surprise as Kupp is still one of the better wide receivers in the NFL, but he had been mentioned as a player the Rams could part with this offseason in a salary-cap-saving move. Kupp released a statement and while he wasn’t happy with the decision, it seems like it will serve as motivation for the 31-year-old.

When discussing teams that could make a deal for Kupp, the Denver Broncos have been identified by both Bryan DeArdo of CBS Sports and Teddy Ricketson of The Sporting News.

“Bo Nix thrived last year despite not having the most proven of receiving crops outside of Courtland Sutton. In Denver, Kupp would play with a up-and-coming quarterback and inside Sean Payton’s pass-happy offense. Kupp’s ability to make plays over the middle would certainly aid Nix, who routinely makes plays outside the pocket”, wrote DeArdo.

Could the Broncos swing a deal with the Rams for Cooper Kupp?

It remains to be seen what kind of compensation the Rams are looking for in exchange for Kupp, but the Broncos should be taking it under consideration.

Kupp ranks third in receptions and touchdown catches in a very rich franchise history for the Rams. He ranks fourth all-time in receiving yards. He did take a bit of a back seat to Puka Nacua and that diminished his numbers a bit, but he is still a very capable player with a lot of football left in him.

If the Broncos could pair Kupp with Sutton and then draft a tight end like Tyler Warren or Colston Loveland in April, Nix would be a happy camper by the time the spring rolls around.
