A massive fight emanates from Las Vegas as David Benavidez and David Morrell compete on February 1 for light heavyweight bragging rights. The fight airs on Amazon Prime and Kayo.
On the line in this fight will be Benavidez’s interim WBC light heavyweight title, Morrell’s WBA (Regular) light heavyweight belt, and the next shot at either Artur Beterbiev or Dmitry Bivol for undisputed gold at 175.
Benavidez (29-0) is a two-time WBC super middleweight champion. He moved to light heavyweight after it became clear he wouldn’t get a shot at Canelo Alvarez. The 28-year-old beat Oleksandr Gvozdyk for the interim WBC belt. “The Monster” has 24 wins via knockout.
Morrell (11-0) held the WBA (Regular) super middleweight title and currently holds the WBA (Regular) light heavyweight belt, beating Radivoje Kalajdzic. The Cuban has knocked out all but two fighters in his way.

The two almost came to blows several times before fight night. They will finally settle things in the ring. Who will be the last man standing?
“We’re coming with our full energy, unlike him. He’s nervous, and he’s not ready. He looks scared right now. When you step into that ring this Saturday, that’s ‘El Monstro’s’ world, and you’re going to see exactly what I’m made of,” Benavidez said.
“I wanted to fight Benavidez because I wanted to end all this ‘Monster’ stuff. Everyone he’s fought so far has either been on the verge of retirement or had to come up or come down in weight. I want to end the myth that he’s a monster,” Morrell said.
