Shared opponent, Daniel Dubois, provided his prediction for Saturday’s heavyweight showdown between two former no.1 contenders, Joe Joyce and Filip Hrgovic.
The pair will clash at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England, on April 5, live on DAZN.
Dubois was defeated by Joyce in 2020, stopped in round 10 after being peppered by ‘The Juggernaut’s’ jab to breaking point, literally – his eyesocket was fractured by the persistent jab.
Then, Dubois swiped away Hrgovic’s no.1 IBF ranking and Interim title when he stopped the Croatian in round eight, last June.
The Londoner’s Interim belt was soon upgraded to the full title, after Usyk vacated, then he KO’d Anthony Joshua in five rounds in September to finally become a legitimate world champion.
Speaking to Podlounge, Dubois was asked how he believes the 10-round heavyweight contest between the two plays out.
He answered, “I think Hrgovic can win it, he’s got a good style. He’s had the time to rebuild so I’m looking forward to it.
“It’s interesting, is Joe going to come in and maul him? I’m looking forward to it to see what Hrgovic is like now. I heard an interview the other day where he said he’s ready and means business, so we’ll see.”
