Dallas Mavericks Anthony Davis a shocking Top 10 fantasy basketball option for the 2025-26 NBA season

Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis is a top 10 player in the NBA when healthy. The problem is that he has had a history of being injured.

As the 2025-26 fantasy basketball season approaches, many fantasy basketball owners are wondering if it is worth it to draft Davis or not. It is a high-risk high-reward situation for fantasy owners. Davis should be healthy to start the 2025-26 season for Dallas. If that’s the case for the Mavericks, then where does he rank among fantasy basketball options?

Dallas Mavericks Anthony Davis Ranks as the #8 Fantasy Basketball Option For 25-26

The top 150 players rankings for the 2025-26 season were revealed on NBA.com by Alex Barutha, Kirien Sprecher, Ryan Ward, and Nick Whalen of rotowire.com. They have the Mavericks forward ranked at number eight as the fantasy basketball season approaches. They said about Davis,

“When healthy, Davis is a unicorn in fantasy hoops. A risky first-round pick at this stage of his career, given his injury history, but passing on him could be detrimental.”

They also understand that Davis is a high-risk high-reward fantasy basketball option at this point in his NBA career. He is 32 years old and for now might be the best fantasy option on the Mavericks. As the 2-2025-26 fantasy basketball season progresses, there is a chance that rookie Cooper Flagg or Kyrie Irving could be a better fantasy option for Dallas.

In 51 games played last season combined with the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas, he averaged 24.7 PPG, 11.6 RPG, 3.5 APG, 2.2 BPG, and 1.2 SPG. Davis also shot 51.6% from the field. He is also a very good option for blocking shots and steals in fantasy basketball. He is not worth a top five pick. However, if Davis slips to the second round in fantasy drafts, then taking him is worth the risk.
