The Dallas Cowboys defense looked lost in a 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on the road in Week 1. With no more Micah Parsons on the defense, they are lacking playmakers on that side of the football.
Dallas has a chance to be better on defense on Sunday against the New York Giants. However, the Cowboys need to make improvements to the roster on the defensive side of the football. Which player is Dallas meeting with?
Dallas Cowboys Meeting With Former Number One Overall Pick Jadeveon Clowney
Josina Anderson, a senior NFL insider posted on her Twitter page on Wednesday,
“Breaking: Free agent edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney is in Dallas today to meet with the #Cowboys, per league source.”
It will be interesting to see if Jadeveon Clowney and the Cowboys are able to get a deal done before the day is over with. Clowney was the number one overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.
He last played for the Carolina Panthers during the 2024 NFL season. Clowney in 14 games had 46 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and four pass deflections. He would defintely help the Cowboys pass rush improve if they were able to sign him. Dallas showed no signs of a pass rush in Week 1 against the Eagles and they also struggled stopping the run.
Clowney still being a free agent is a little surprising and is also 32 years old. Signing him to the team wouldn’t replace Parsons completely, but it would be a better option than what they currently have on the roster.
