Daegu vs. Barcelona score, result, highlights, stats as Rashford gets first Barca goal in five-star showing

Barcelona cruised to a 5-0 win over Daegu in the final game of their Asian tour on Monday.

Hansi Flick’s side won 7-3 against Seoul and another strong selection from the German head coach did not bode well for Daegu.

Park Chang-hyun’s side are rock bottom of the K League 1 and 11 points adrift of Suwon, who are the position above them in 11th.

But Geovani should have capitalised upon an error from Barca goalkeeper Joan Garcia to open the scoring before Gavi did likewise at the other end.

Robert Lewandowski doubled the advantage before the half hour with a close-range finish, and Gavi added his second in first-half stoppage time.

The second half brought a nice moment for 17-year-old winger Toni Fernandez, who made it 4-0, before the more familiar face of Marcus Rashford scored for the first time in Barcelona colours.

Next up for Barca are Como in the annual Joan Gamper Trophy before they begin their La Liga title defence at Real Mallorca.

Daegu vs. Barcelona highlights

Fulltime

It’s another handsome win for Barcelona to close out their Asian tour. A nice moment for Marcus Rashford, who got his first Barca goal after a brace from Gavi before halftime set the victory in motion. Pau Cubarsi suffered who looked like a muscular injury late on, the only blot on another useful workout for Hansi Flick’s team.

65 mins: Rashford gets on the scoresheet for the first time in Barcelona’s colours, tucking home Olmo’s cutback.

54 mins: Teenager Fernandez gets in on the act, finishing tidily after being slotted in by Olmo. Daegu 0-4 Barcelona

Halftime

Geovani will rue missing that opportunity to give Daegu the lead with the goal at his mercy, and it was pretty much as you’d expect after that. Two goals from Gavi, one for Lewandowski and plenty more substitutions coming up, you’d expect.

45+2 mins: Gavi darts into the Daegu area and clips home a fine finish. It’s the midfielder’s goal despite Ronald Araujo’s desperate/amusing efforts to get a touch before it crossed the line! Daegu 0-3 Barcelona

28 mins: Robert Lewandowski does what he does from close range. Daegu 0-2 Barcelona

21 mins: Just after Geovani misses a glorious chance at the other end, Gavi dispatches a low drive from the edge of the box.
