Pete Crow-Armstrong simply won’t cool down.
The Cubs outfield sensation did it again Friday night, slugging an early home run and then crushing a grand slam tucked inside the right-field foul pole later on in a come-from-behind win over the Reds.
With his continued brilliant production, PCA has submitted himself for an admittedly arbitrary category: The best 34-game stretch in baseball history.
Why 34? Because the first game of this chosen span was a 3-for-4 night with two homers and a triple, and his stats beginning that night are astounding.
Since then, Crow-Armstrong has:
- 9 doubles
- 3 triples
- 14 home runs
- 40 RBI
- 8 stolen bases
That’s the first such 34-game combination of those statistics in MLB history, according to OptaStats.

PCA’s triple-slash hitting line in the span is .331/.348/.750 for a 1.098 OPS.
The one knock might be that Crow-Armstrong has only four walks in the month-plus, by why walk when everything you hit turns to magic?
It’s an absolutely absurd level of play for the 23-year old who struggled a while in his first full MLB season in 2024. He got hot late and has carried it over to this year.
He also might be the best centerfielder in baseball, so when you put it all together, Crow-Armstrong is truly in a historic moment right now.
The Cubs are just glad to have PCA at his best, and the baseball world waits to see what he does next.
