The Chicago Cubs were down to their final out.
This wild Tuesday night game at Wrigley Field against the Dodgers was going to come up a single run short.
But then, Miguel Amaya put a magical swing on a baseball and launched it beyond the ivy-colored walls. Tied, 10-10.
In extras, the Cubs got a scoreless top of the 10th from Porter Hodge and a first-pitch walk-off single from Ian Happ in the bottom half to score the bonus runner and send the Cubs fans home happy.

What a path to get there, though.
The Dodgers led 3-0 right out of the gates as Tommy Edman’s improbable power surge continued with his eighth home run, a three-run shot in the top of the first.

The Cubs answered with five in the bottom of the first on extra-base hits from Seiya Suzuki, Dansby Swanson, Pete Crow-Armstrong and Amaya.
Andy Pages led off the second with a solo shot for the Dodgers. PCA answered with a two-run homer in the fifth for 7-4 Cubbies.
But then a Will Smith homer, a Cubs error to score a run, a Freddie Freeman two-run double and a Smith RBI double made it 10-7 Dodgers in the seventh.
Kyle Tucker’s two-run home run in bottom eight made it interesting again.
And then on the second pitch he saw with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Amaya left the yard.
That set up the rare first-pitch walk-off single thanks to the extra innings bonus runner rule, and the Cubs had a party on their hands.
There’s been plenty of craziness at Wrigley Field lately, and the Cubs keep finding a way to get it done.
