The Chicago Cubs are off to a strong start to the season. They are 7-5, leading the National League Central. They have bounced back after dropping their first two games against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Tokyo.
Seiya Suzuki has settled into the designated hitter role, but that could indicate that he may be looking for a change of scenery. In the offseason, his agent Joel Wolfe noted that Suzuki does not want to be a full-time designated hitter. He has made 11 appearances at DH this season. He has a no-trade clause, so he would have to approve any move.
Athlon Sports’ Jon Conahan proposed the idea of the Cubs moving Suzuki via a trade with the Atlanta Braves. The Braves lost Jurickson Profar to an 80-game suspension following a positive test for PEDs. He is ineligible for the postseason and the Braves are already playing without Ronald Acuña Jr. The Cubs will not want to trade Suzuki if they continue to pace the NL Central.
“Still, with the Cubs showing over the past few years that they want to save money, anything is possible, and the Braves would be the team that makes the most sense for him right now,” wrote Conahan.
Suzuki is leading baseball with 21 strikeouts and does not have a great batting average. However, he has hit four home runs and could be an upgrade for the Braves. Even when Profar returns, he will not be able to help the Braves if they get into the postseason.

An outfield of Suzuki, Acuña and Michael Harris II could be a group that helps the Braves turn things around after a poor start to the season.
