Cubs All-Star responds to fan jab

The Chicago Cubs have drawn significant praise for their phenomenal start to the 2025 season. This year’s team is currently 38-23 and 4.5 games up on the St. Louis Cardinals for first place in the National League Central.

The Cubs are riding an offense leading Major League Baseball in runs, which is not solely due to their prowess in the batter’s box. This group is a phenomenal base-running team and ranks second overall in stolen bases. All-Star pitcher Justin Steele went on X to praise this aspect of the team.

Unfortunately, the 29-year-old is out for the season, which is a big blow, but he came to the Cubs’ defense in a viral exchange with a trolling fan.

Steele’s injury likely means the Cubs will upgrade their starting pitching rotation. Chicago has moderately improved in this area as the season has continued, but they need some upgrades to beat the New York Mets or Los Angeles Dodgers in the playoffs.

Overall, though, this has been a fantastic few months for the franchise. The Cubs look like a legitimate contender and are well on their way to breaking a four-year playoff drought.

Still, the NL Central race is, of course, not over, and the Milwaukee Brewers are a team to watch, having won nine out of their past ten games. The Cubs will have to remain focused to ensure their healthy lead on the rest of the division remains intact.
