Cristiano Ronaldo’s former agent reveals transfer call on Brazilian team for Club World Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo will not be heading to Brazil for the Club World Cup this summer — and that’s straight from the former source.

Amid whispers of a surprise move to Fluminense, the Portuguese icon’s camp has put those rumors to rest.

With Ronaldo’s contract at Al-Nassr running out on June 30, questions have swirled about his next step. Some believed a short-term switch to a Club World Cup participant could be on the cards.

Fluminense, one of Brazil’s biggest clubs, hoped they could pull off the unthinkable. But reality struck like a Ronaldo free-kick.

Fluminense president calls Cristiano Ronaldo’s former agent

Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt admitted he reached out to Ronaldo’s longtime agent Jorge Mendes. While Mendes is no longer his official representative, Bittencourt still tried his luck.

“I don’t have a close relationship with Jorge Mendes, but I called him,” Bittencourt said on the Setor Sul podcast. “He was Ronaldo’s agent his whole life, but he’s not anymore. Anyway, I spoke to him to find out if there was any possibility of Ronaldo playing in the Club World Cup with us.”

The response? As blunt as a missed sitter.

“He was very clear with me and said that Ronaldo was not interested in playing in Brazilian football at the moment,” Bittencourt explained.

“I told him that Fluminense has the colors of the Portuguese flag, that it would be great to play in Brazil, and it would be a dream for our fans. But you can’t say that we put an offer on the table.”

While the idea had fans dreaming, Ronaldo remains focused on Portugal duty, with a big Nations League clash against Germany just around the corner.

So, no samba for CR7 just yet — but as always with him, never say never.
