Cowboys urged to target $19 million Eagles All-Pro in free agency

The Dallas Cowboys have many needs to address this offseason. They will need to find a new head coach first, but there are plenty of talented players the team could target in free agency.

The Cowboys had the second-worst scoring defense in the NFL last season. They could look to target impact defenders in free agency. Sports Illustrated’s Koby Skillern urged the team to target Philadelphia Eagles breakout star Zack Baun.

“Zack Baun has come out of nowhere this season for the Eagles, recording more tackles than he did in his entire four-year stint with the New Orleans Saints,” wrote Skillern. “This season, Baun has accumulated 151 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, and an interception. A versatile linebacker, Baun primarily plays as an inside linebacker, though much of his experience also comes from special teams. With Eric Kendricks set to hit free agency, Baun could provide an upgrade for the Cowboys at inside linebacker.”

Baun was named a Pro Bowler and a First-Team All-Pro. Spotrac projects Baun to sign a two-year, $19 million deal in free agency. Baun was one of the best players in the NFL last season and could make an instant impact on the Cowboys’ defense. The Cowboys gave up the fourth-most rushing yards in the league last season. Baun could go a long way in correcting that.

If they can convince Baun to sign with them, the Cowboys would not only be improving their team but making the Eagles worse in the process.
