Cowboys urged to add 1,150-yard rusher in 2026 NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys went out this offseason and added four new running backs to their roster. The team signed veteran free agent backs Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders while drafting rookies Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah.

Williams and Sanders are expected to be the main running backs in the offense this season, but neither is on a long-term deal.

There is a chance that both Williams and Sanders will be gone in 2026, which could lead the Cowboys to take a running back high in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Garrett Kerman from ClutchPoints thinks the Cowboys should monitor Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love for 2026.

“The Cowboys’ running back situation remains unsettled despite a flurry of recent moves,” Kerman wrote. “Last season, Dallas ranked near the bottom of the league in rushing, and while they’ve added veterans and drafted mid-round prospects, the search for a true feature back continues. Enter Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame’s dynamic runner and the consensus top running back prospect for the 2026 draft.”

Love rushed for 1,125 yards and 17 scores in 16 games last season, which gives him 1,510 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns in his college career.

The Cowboys have drafted running backs high before taking Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott with the No. 4 pick in 2016, so there is a chance they could do it again ten years later.
