Cowboys’ under-the-radar offseason trade may result in Week 1 starter

The Dallas Cowboys made a trade this offseason that flew under the radar.

They acquired former first-round pick Kaiir Elam, a cornerback, from the Buffalo Bills.

Elam hadn’t delivered on his potential with Buffalo, and so it mostly felt like a dart throw.

But so far this offseason, Elam has played great.

“Cowboys CB Kaiir Elam is in a good position to start in week one,” wrote the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris on X. “Elam recorded an interception today on Dak Prescott and continues to find the ball in the offseason on-field work. A lot still to be played out, but Elam has had a strong spring and summer with the Cowboys.”

Elam went low to pick off the pass from Dak.

Maybe the coolest part of the whole sequence came afterward.

Prescott joined Elam on the sideline to discuss what had happened on the play.

There’s a lot of summer left, but Elam has done everything Dallas could’ve hoped for so far.
