Cowboys’ trade idea sends $69 million playmaker to Dallas

This offseason, the Dallas Cowboys made a trade for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens, giving the team one of the best-receiving duos in the NFL with CeeDee Lamb.

Lamb and Pickens should be able to take over the NFL, but the Pickens trade might not be the only receiver the Cowboys trade for this offseason.

The New England Patriots just signed receiver Stefon Diggs to a three-year, $69 million deal, but some off-the-field drama could send Diggs packing before the start of the NFL season.

If Diggs were to be traded, Anthony Palacios from Last Word On Sports thinks the Cowboys could trade for him.

“The Dallas Cowboys might as well get another possible dynamic wide receiver despite trading for George Pickens this offseason,” Palacios wrote. “Jalen Tolbert is entering his contract year, and he’s a WR3 for the offensive unit, so this is his last chance to prove that he can earn another deal. If he doesn’t, they could trade for Diggs to not only depend on CeeDee Lamb and Pickens in the deep threat route, while Dak Prescott slings it to the slot in a potential reliable receiver like Diggs.”

Diggs is coming off a season where he only appeared in eight games due to a knee injury. It doesn’t seem like the Cowboys would make any move to acquire Diggs after trading for Pickens.

The only way Dallas would make a move for Diggs is if something were to happen to Lamb or Pickens, and they need another veteran receiver on the roster.
