The Dallas Cowboys saw one of their franchise players, All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons, request a trade on Friday. However, that isn’t stopping the team from making moves.
According to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Cowboys are signing offensive tackle La’el Collins after a nice workout. Collins was signed as an undrafted free agent by Dallas in 2015 and played six seasons with the franchise.
“The Dallas Cowboys are signing OT La’el Collins, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram has learned. Good workout leads to a reunion for Collins in Oxnard,” Harris wrote on X.
Collins last played in the NFL in 2022 with the Cincinnati Bengals. That year, he started 15 games for Cincinnati at right tackle and allowed five sacks.
He was released by the Bengals after Week 1 of the 2023 season and signed back with Dallas in January 2024. Collins was shortly released by the Cowboys and then signed with the Buffalo Bills for the 2024 campaign. The LSU product failed to make Buffalo’s 53-man roster.
Now back in Dallas, Collins will be looking to get his career back on track and earn a spot on the Cowboys’ roster. The 32-year-old should provide nice veteran depth behind starting right tackle Terence Steele.
Signing Collins is far from the biggest storyline in Dallas right now. With Parsons requesting a trade due to a lack of movement in contract talks, the Cowboys must act quickly and pay the superstar pass rusher what he’s worth.
Though he requested a trade, Dallas has no intentions of trading Parsons, per Dianna Russini of The Athletic.
