Cowboys predicted to land 1,233-yard weapon for Dak Prescott with No. 12 pick

Dak Prescott had a bad statistical season before his injury in 2024. But looking around at the rest of the Dallas Cowboys’ offense, it was hard to blame him too harshly.

Outside of top-tier receiver CeeDee Lamb, the Cowboys had very little going for them offensively, especially early in the season. The ground game eventually rounded into form, but the passing game, Lamb aside, was almost pitiful.

Lamb had 1,196 receiving yards, and no other Cowboys player topped Jalen Tolbert’s 610. Whether it’s a receiver, tight end, or even a pass-catching running back, someone has to do better in the number-two role in 2025.

Seeing as the majority of free agents have already signed, the Cowboys will likely have to look to the draft to find the answer.

On Monday, John Kosko of Pro Football Focus predicted that the Cowboys would do just that, selecting Penn State tight end Tyler Warren for Dallas in his latest 2025 NFL mock draft.

“The Cowboys have a lot of needs, but they’ve lacked a reliable weapon outside of CeeDee Lamb in recent seasons,” Kosko wrote. “Enter, Warren, a versatile tight end who can play in-line to help in the run game and spread out wide as a mismatch against linebackers and safeties.”

Warren, 22, was unstoppable at Penn State this past season, racking up a school-record 104 catches for 1,233 yards. He had eight receiving touchdowns, and also added 216 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns to his impressive totals.

Dallas thought Jake Ferguson would be the answer at tight end after his strong 2023 campaign, but he took a step back in 2024, finishing under the 500-yard mark. If anything, adding Warren could make Ferguson even more lethal in two-tight end sets, allowing both players to shine.
