Former superstar quarterback Cam Newton has a lot of opinions, and he isn’t shy about sharing them.
The latest is a wild one: He says that if the Dallas Cowboys don’t make the Super Bowl this season, they’ll replace Dak Prescott.
Newton goes a step further: Prescott’s replacement would be Arch Manning.
“If he doesn’t deliver this year, his time in Dallas is over,” Newton said on his podcast. “… and Jerry (Jones) might already be eyeing Arch Manning.”
Newton concluded his thoughts by saying, “When the rubber meets the road, I really don’t trust Dak Prescott.”

Whew, there’s a lot to break down here.
The Manning layer has multiple complications to it. If the nephew of Peyton and Eli performs to his ability at Texas, he’ll likely go in the top-five of the draft, a place the Cowboys probably won’t have a pick.
And that’s if Manning even leaves school. He’s actually eligible to be at Texas through the 2027 season, and many expect him to remain at least through 2026.
Then there’s the matter of Prescott’s contract, which has a cap hit of $74 million in 2026 and $68 million in 2027.
Can you blame us if we don’t quite see the way this all comes together?

The Cowboys did try and make things better for Prescott this season by getting him a true WR2 in the form of George Pickens.
If they can get Micah Parsons’ contract extension done, the Cowboys will have a team with some impressive top-end talent.
But getting to the Super Bowl is hard, and no one will be projecting Dallas to do so.
Newton’s theory, even if there’s another disappointing season for the Cowboys, might wind up being just a bit too far fetched.
