The Dallas Cowboys will travel to Denver to face the Broncos on Sunday in Week 8 of the NFL season.
The Cowboys come into the matchup 3-3-1, with their tie against the Green Bay Packers, and the Broncos come in with a 5-2 record, sitting atop the AFC West division.
Although it’ll be a big game regardless, all eyes will be on Cowboys’ running back Javonte Williams as he makes his return to Denver. This week, Williams sent a message to Denver ahead of their matchup.
Javonte Williams sends Broncos a message
The Broncos drafted Williams in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and he spent the first four years of his career in Denver.
Williams rushed for more than 900 yards in his rookie season and had more than 1,000 total yards and seven touchdowns.
However, Williams tore his ACL, LCL and PCL in his second year in the league and never fully got back to his best self. The Broncos’ back still rushed for more than 1,200 yards in the final two years of his rookie contract, but he wasn’t the same runner.

So, in 2025, Williams became a free agent and signed with the Cowboys for $3 million, and the Broncos moved on from the former second round pick.
Now, Williams will return to Denver for the first time this weekend, and he had a message for his old squad on Friday ahead of Sunday’s matchup.
“Those boys are doing their thing, all respect to them. But they made a mistake letting me go,” Williams said. “They’ll feel my weight on Sunday — they’ll feel my girth. I’m ready to pound ’em, honestly.”
INSANE: #Cowboys star running back Javonte Williams reportedly GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL as 16 YEAR OLD and as Valedictorian.
Williams’ had a 4.6 GPA, his lowest grade EVER was a 97 and was able to enroll at UNC early.
He also had almost 2500 yards and 27 TD’s as Senior.

It’s no surprise Williams is approaching Sunday as a revenge game, and everyone knows those can be special in sports.
However, on the Broncos side, it was all positivity from coach Sean Payton.
“I’m one of his biggest fans,” Payton said. “He found a great opportunity. You talk about a wonderful (person)… a tremendous guy. A tremendous player. I’m glad he’s in the NFC.”

While Williams is now in the NFC, Payton’s defense will have to face him on Sunday. Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph knows it’ll be a challenge.
“He looks like he has his legs back, explosive; he’s breaking tackles. He’s catching the football,” Joseph said. “He’s playing on all three downs, so I’m happy for that dude. He’s such a great person.”
Get your popcorn ready because Sunday should be a fun game between the Broncos and Cowboys from Mile High in Denver.
