Sixteen teams have won the Coppa Italia since Italy’s premier domestic cup competition was first held as a 37-club tournament in 1922.
Vado — now a semi-professional club — won the first edition, with Torino winning the next in 1935/1936. Genoa, Juventus, Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Venezia also got their hands on the trophy before the tournament took a break between 1943 and 1958.
The competition has taken place every season since then. In 2024/25, Bologna lifted the trophy after defeating AC Milan 1-0 in the final.

Juventus had won the Coppa Italia the most often at the start of the 2024/25 competition, and it will take at least five seasons for the two teams behind them, Roma and Inter, to catch up.
The Old Lady’s 14 trophy wins included four in a row between 2015 and 2018 and another in 2021. Since then, the tournament had been under Inter’s control until 2024/25.
The Nerazzurri have drawn level as the second-most successful team in the competition since the arrival of Simone Inzaghi as their manager in 2021, winning their second successive title under him when they came from behind to beat Fiorentina through Lautaro Martinez’s double in the 2022/23 final.
That means they have won the Coppa Italia nine times, as have Roma, but the Giallorossi have not prevailed since 2008, when they were under the leadership of current Italy boss Luciano Spalletti.
Napoli won three of their six titles between 2012 and 2020. Fiorentina are the other side to have won six times, last doing so in 2001 under Spalletti’s predecessor at the Azzurri helm, Roberto Mancini.
Milan and Parma have also won the Coppa Italia during the 21st century, while Sampdoria triumphed in three out of five seasons between 1985 and 1989. Bologna were champions twice during the early 1970s and did so again in 2025.
