Complete guide to NBA All-Star 2025: Schedule, events, rosters, formats and more to know

At last, NBA All-Star Weekend is here!

One of the biggest events on the NBA’s calendar heads west as the San Francisco Bay Area will host All-Star festivities for the first time since 2000. As you might expect, things look much different this time around.

All-Star Weekend is naturally anchored around the NBA All-Star Game. This year’s game will feature an all-new format that should bring new excitement to the weekend’s proceedings. While the NBA’s mainstays will get their fair share of the spotlight, there will be an added focus on the league’s next generation of stars, too.

In preparation for a busy weekend, The Sporting News has put together the latest edition of our annual NBA All-Star Game guide, complete with schedules, rosters and all you need to know about what will be different this time around.

Where is NBA All-Star 2025?

NBA All-Star 2025 will take place in the San Francisco Bay Area, which is hosting the weekend for the first time since 2000.

Events will be split between San Francisco’s Chase Center, home of the NBA’s Warriors and WNBA’s Valkyries, and Oakland’s Oakland Arena (formerly Oracle Arena), the former home of the Warriors.

The Rising Stars Challenge, All-Star Saturday Night and All-Star Game will be played at Chase Center. The Celebrity Game and All-Star practice are among the events that will be held at Oakland Arena.

How to watch the 2025 NBA All-Star Game

  • Date: Sunday, Feb. 16
  • Time: 8 p.m. ET | 5 p.m. PT
  • TV channel: TNT

In the United States, the 2025 NBA All-Star Game will air on TNT. Tip-off of the NBA All-Star Game is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.

While the distinction of All-Star Game starter is a prestigious title that holds weight, those 10 players will not start against one another as in years past.

This year, the 24 NBA All-Stars (10 starters and 14 reserves) will be split into three teams of eight for a three-game NBA All-Star Game mini-tournament on Sunday. TNT analysts Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith drafted three teams of eight during the NBA All-Star Draft on Thursday, Feb. 6.

The fourth team in the NBA All-Star mini-tournament will be the winner of the NBA Rising Stars Game played between the NBA’s best first- and second-year players and a team of NBA G League standouts.

The four-team tournament will feature three games — two semifinals and the championship. Each game will be played to a target score of 40 points and the winner will be the first team to reach or surpass 40 points.

NBA All-Star Game prize money

The four teams will compete for a prize pool of $1.8 million. The money breaks down as follows:

  • Champion: $125,000 per player
  • Second-place: $50,000 per player
  • Third- and fourth-place: $25,000 per player

Below are the three confirmed rosters for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game. As explained above, starters and reserves were chosen as they were in past years but the rosters were drafted by TNT’s “Inside the NBA’ crew.

The fourth team will be the winner of the Rising Stars Challenge and will be named Team Candace for its honorary GM, Candace Parker.

Five first-time All-Stars will take the floor in 2025 — three will suit up for Team Kenny and the other two will play for Team Chuck.

  • Cade Cunningham, Pistons (Team Kenny)
  • Tyler Herro, Heat (Team Kenny)
  • Alperen Sengun, Rockets (Team Chuck)
  • Victor Wembanyama, Spurs (Team Chuck)
  • Jalen Williams, Thunder (Team Kenny)

Wembanyama, 21, is the youngest player in this year’s All-Star Game. The second-year center is averaging 24.4 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.9 blocks per game and is well on his way to being named the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year.

Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault and Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson will be two of the four coaches at this year’s All-Star Game. The other two coaches will be a Thunder assistant coach and a Cavaliers assistant coach.

The NBA standings determine who coaches in the All-Star Game. The job goes to the head coaches of the teams with the Eastern and Western Conference’s best records through games played on Feb. 2.

Both Atkinson and Daigneault are coaching in the NBA All-Star Game for the first time in their respective coaching careers.
