The Washington Commanders are reportedly shopping Brian Robinson Jr.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Sunday that the Commanders are looking into trading away their No. 1 running back.
On the surface, it’s a bit surprising, even with Robinson entering the final year of his contract.
Last season, he ran for career highs in yards (799) and touchdowns (eight) while playing 14 games.
But now, there’s a new guy in town.
The rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt may very well be the reason Robinson is expendable.
Sure, the Commanders also have Austin Ekeler, Jeremy McNichols and Chris Rodriguez Jr.
But it’s JCM who is the exciting one changing everything in the nation’s capital.

Croskey-Merritt split his college career between Alabama State, New Mexico and Arizona.
He made it all the way to the draft’s seventh round, where he was chosen at pick No. 245 overall.
This summer, Croskey-Merritt has quickly moved up the depth chart in Washington.
“Don’t discount this rookie’s potential simply because he slipped to the seventh round of the draft,” writes ESPN’s Tristan Cockcroft. “Eligibility issues limited him to one game for Arizona in 2024, surely deflating his draft stock. Croskey-Merritt has since shaped up as a potential draft-day steal, drawing raves for his rookie camp and early preseason work while showing remarkable speed and quick-cutting ability. Considering Austin Ekeler is now 30 years old and Brian Robinson Jr. is coming off a disappointing 2024, Croskey-Merritt could quickly work his way into the Commanders’ rushing rotation, with his eye on a starting job before long.”

There were already social media discussions about a possible cutting of Robinson that seemed a bit crazy, but maybe not as outlandish now.
JCM mania seems to have taken over the Commanders’ world. Robinson could prove to be the guy who loses out.
