Colts rookie TE Tyler Warren’s role projected to be even bigger than expected

The question posed by ESPN beat writer Stephen Holder is the correct one: “What can’t this rookie do?”

Holder was just starting his breakdown of Indianapolis Colts rookie tight end Tyler Warren, who was the No. 14 overall pick in the NFL Draft out of Penn State.

Holder’s next sentence is telling, too: “If the Colts are right about him, not much.”

There’s been plenty of excitement about Warren in Indy, but it may not even be enough.

After a legendary Nittany Lions career, Warren could put together a special NFL tenure right from the start.

“Warren’s usage in offseason workouts portends a massive role in the offense for this year’s 14th overall draft selection,” Holder writes. “Remember, he did it all at Penn State — receiving, running, passing. Everything is on the table in Indy, as well.”

The Colts might need a pass or two from Warren given the career throwing struggles of QB competitors Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson.

But seriously, Warren will be a huge help to whichever quarterback wins the job. An offense with a guy like Warren in it just has a much better chance of being successful.
