Colts rookie Hunter Wohler has been a standout throughout training camp at Grand Park. Despite being a seventh-round pick, Wohler has flashed as a consistent playmaker who appears to have created a role for himself in Lou Anarumo’s defense.
Wohler had a strong performance in Indy’s preseason opener against the Ravens, leading the defense in tackles with nine.
But his second career NFL contest was cut short. The Colts ruled Wohler out of Saturday’s game against the Packers after the first defensive drive. The diagnosis is a foot injury with no word on the severity just yet. He leaves the game having made just two tackles.

The safety out of Wisconsin, who started in place of the injured Nick Cross, is replaced by Daniel Scott, a third-year player who had to wait to take his first NFL snaps due to season-ending injuries suffered in the spring of his first two seasons. So, another player with something to prove.
While it seems unlikely Scott can beat Wohler out for the backup strong safety spot behind Cross, he certainly has his chance now that the rookie is shut down for the day.
